Wil Kilroy joined NMSU from the University of Southern Maine where he was Professor of Theatre and served as Department Chair.  Kilroy returns to Maine each year to run the Summer Theatre Academy for teens which he founded and just celebrated its 27th year. Professor Kilroy also served the New England region as Chair of the Kennedy Center College Theatre Festival and was a co-leader for their Production Respondent Training, and is the recipient of three Kennedy Center Bronze Medallions.  He received his BFA in Theatre from the University of Rhode Island and his MFA in Acting from the University of Illinois, with additional training at the Academy of Dramatic Art and the National Shakespeare Conservatory both in New York City. He teaches various acting classes and stage movement,  directs department productions and is the Managing Director for the American Southwest Theatre Company of NMSU. As the co-founder and Vice President of the National Michael Chekhov Association, Kilroy has a specialty in the acting techniques of Michael Chekhov, and offers annual workshops which draw international participants.  Professor Kilroy offers a special intensive course in NYC during spring break, which allows students to experience the hub of theatre via viewing Broadway shows, backstage tours, and seminars with industry professionals.  Kilroy frequently presents at theatre functions and conferences throughout the country, and as time allows continues to work as a performer such as  his annual guest artist role as Dr. Coppelius in Coppelia for the State Ballet of Rhode Island or his recent local appearance as Max in Weighing In at the Las Cruces Black Box Theatre.
