    SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

    The Department of Theatre Arts offers a variety of scholarships for current students, as well incoming students of exceptional talent. We are proud to offer one of the highest scholarship endowments of any department in the College of Arts and Sciences at NMSU!

    HOW TO APPLY
    1) You must meet the following criteria for all Departmental scholarships:
    · Be a fulltime student for the duration of your award
    · Be a declared Theatre major for the duration of your award
    · Have at least a 3.0 GPA for the duration of your award

    2) Fill out and submit the financial aid forms through the Financial Aid Office. This must be completed by March 1!

    3) Print off a scholarship packet HERE (or obtain one from the Theatre Arts office). You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and print these files. Click here to download free Adobe Acrobat Reader if you don't already have it on your computer.

    4) Decide for which scholarships you'd like to apply. If applying for the Vivien B. Head Scholarship, make sure you also get an application for this scholarship (it's a separate application form). Also, for this scholarship you must have 2 current letters of recommendation. Contact those you'd like to write letters as soon as possible.

    5) Fill out the application materials, which include:
    · A letter of introduction. A typed cover letter introducing yourself and your achievements to the committee.
    · Department of Theatre Arts application.
    · Department of Theatre Arts questionnaire. This is a typed response to the questions found in your packet. Answers should be articulate and grammatically correct.
    · A current school transcript.
    · A current theatre resume.
    Please note that your packet should be professionally presented (everything typed, free of errors, clean, in a folder, etc.)

    6) Turn in your completed application no later than 4:00 p.m. on the first Monday in March. No facsimile or electronic applications will be accepted.

    SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED
    EVE YOQUELET SCHOLARSHIP FOR THEATRE ARTS
    Criteria: Awarded to fulltime students pursuing degrees in Theatre Arts. Applications must have a GPA of 3.0 or better. May be renewed.
    Donor: The Estate of Eve Yoquelet

    MARK MEDOFF SCHOLARSHIP
    Criteria: Awarded to fulltime students who excel in Theatre Arts. Preference will be given to qualified applicants with greatest financial need. May be renewed.

    THOMAS A. ERHARD PLAYWRIGHT'S SCHOLARSHIP
    Criteria: Varying amounts awarded to a fulltime Theatre Arts major who has demonstrated promise as a playwright and has a 3.0 or better GPA. Candidates must submit a play for consideration. Scholarship may be renewed.
    Donor: Friends and students of Dr. Thomas A. Erhard

    VIVIEN B. HEAD SCHOLARSHIP
    Criteria: Awarded to a fulltime student pursuing a degree in Theatre Arts. The student must be a U.S. citizen, have a 3.0 or better GPA, have need of financial assistance to obtain an education, be of good moral attitude and character, and have demonstrated ability and aptitude to pursue their chosen field. An essay is required describing the student's career goals and support for the free enterprise system. Personal interview may also be requested. Renewable for a total of eight semesters.

    MARGUERITE LOYA PEARSON SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR THE ARTS
    Criteria: Awarded to students pursuing degrees in Theatre Arts, Arts, Music or Dance. These funds should be used toward tuition, fees and other educational expenses.
    Donor: The family of Marguerite Loya Pearson

    SUTHERLAND-MCMANUS SCHOLARSHIP
    Criteria: Awarded to students in the Theatre Arts Department.
    Donor: Constance Sutherland, William Sutherland and friends

    KIMBERLY MING THEATRE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP
    Criteria: Awarded to a junior, senior or graduate student majoring in Theatre Arts. Student must have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA. Preference is given to a New Mexico student.
